The Los Angeles City Council banned the use of electronic cigarettes in public places

March 6, 2014  22:32

The Los Angeles City Council banned the use of electronic cigarettes in all public places, where smoking is prohibited, including offices, bars, restaurants and beaches, reports Fox News.

Electronic cigarette is refilled with cartridge with liquid nicotine instead of tobacco, which allows the smoker to inhale nicotine vapor, so that the environment misses tobacco smoke. Thus, electronic cigarettes are safer than the regular ones. But «safer» does not mean they are completely safe, according to LA authorities.

FDA is currently dealing with the influence of e-cigarettes on health and believes that a thorough research and the introduction of regulation of this product will take several years.

In the meantime, the sale of e-cigarettes is growing rapidly, in two years it has increased nine times.
