Pregnant woman unexpectedly gives birth thinking she has kidney stones

July 25, 2019  13:01

Mother Saffron Snow from the English district of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, had no idea that she was waiting for the eighth child thinking she had kidney stones.

It happened in September 2017: Saffron felt sharp pains in the abdomen and back and called an ambulance. For the past few months, she was worried about her kidneys, and the woman was sure that she had some kind of seizure.

“It might sound odd, but I'd hate for Arthur to ever think because he was a surprise, he wasn't wanted. He really was,” said Saffron.

The woman was taken to the hospital, where she safely gave birth to the eighth child and called him Artur.

After four previous Caesarean Sections, Saffron was at high risk of uterine rupture, but quick-thinking midwives stopped her from pushing and performed an emergency episiotomy – where a large cut is made in the perineum, the skin between the vagina and anus – to help deliver Arthur quickly and safely.

According to Saffron, in the past few months, she examined the kidneys for three times, but he did not reveal her pregnancy.
