Woman donates her kidney to ex-husband 5 years after their divorce
Health problems helped former spouses build friendships five years after the divorce, Mirror reported.
Dan Pyatt and Kelly Hope married in 2007, but less than a year later Dan fell ill with an aggressive type of kidney disease.
The pair were warned that in 10 years he would need a transplant.
Dan was told his kidney function had fallen to just 8% and he was put on a deceased donor waiting list.
The man had no donor after 12 months on the waiting list, so his ex-wife told him: “I’m going to get tested for a transplant.”
The woman said she wasn't prepared to let her children be without a father
After the surgery, the ex-spouses and their children spent Christmas together, as well as holidays in France. Dan and Kelly have not yet thought about reuniting, recognizing that the difficult situation brought them closer together and allowed them to become friends.
