The US authorities intend to significantly limit the country's sale of vapes, said American Health and Social Services Secretary, Alex Azar.

According to him, work is underway on a document according to which smoking mixes with mint and menthol aromas, as well as with the aroma of sweets, chewing gum, fruits and alcohol will be removed from stores, TASS reported.

When the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) completes the development of the document, we will begin to take coercive measures to remove such products from the market, he added.

After that manufacturers of flavored mixtures will have to contact the FDA, which after verification will be able to approve the return of a product to the market, provided that it meets all the standards established by law.

The FDA will take another few weeks to develop the document, a month after that it will take effect.

In recent months, debate has intensified in the US over whether vapes have a negative effect on health. In August, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported the country's first death after smoking e-cigarettes, resulting in a severe respiratory illness. Now experts are already talking about several dead for the same reasons. The authorities of the country revealed about 450 cases of such diseases in 33 states, as well as in the US Virgin Islands.
