Woman dies of malnutrition after eating only chips all her life

Charlotte Broad, 32, from the English city of Winchester, Hampshire, died of malnutrition.

According to the Daily Mail, Charlotte suffered from selective eating disorder: she never ate vegetables and only ate cheese and onion chips and chicken nuggets.

She gave birth to two children, and during both pregnancies she ate only cheese chips and drank soda. In 2011, a woman sought medical help, but doctors could not help her change her diet. 

Charlotte fed her daughters normally, but she continued to eat chips and crackers and drink soda. In 2019, doctors told her that she would die if she continued to eat this way, but even this did not change her eating habits.

On January 3, 2019, she was hospitalized. After she was bedridden for 6 weeks. January 18, she died in the hospital.

During the investigation into her death, her brother said that she needed to be shown to a psychiatrist.

Regional coroner Samantha Marsh explained that eating disorders are very difficult to deal with and said: 'Ultimately, you can't tie someone down and force them to eat.'
