May COVID-19 spread by touching objects?

June 4, 2020  21:04

COVID-19 is most often transmitted through the air and during direct contact with an infected, and the likelihood of getting infected by touching objects is very low, experts from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention found out.

According to The Daily Mail, infected people exhale millions of viral particles every hour, moreover, even those who do not have any symptoms of COVID-19 are dangerous to others.

The probability of infection by touching surfaces or objects was not as high as thought to be. There are about 3 times more viral particles in the air when the infected are exhaling than on the surface of objects that they have touched.

The authors of the study believe that the introduction of a mandatory use of masks may be the main measure to combat the COVID-19 spread.
