Lung drug helps reduce COVID-19 deaths by 5 times

A Russian drug for the treatment of severe lung injuries has helped to reduce mortality from COVID-19 by 5 times, Izvestia newspaper reported.

According to the publication, patients felt improvement immediately after inhalation of surfactant-BL, a drug obtained by Russian scientists from the lungs of cattle.

Studies by Russian specialists showed that the drug helped to reduce mortality among patients with severe coronavirus infection from 80% - the world average - to 14.3%. A total of 24 out of 28 patients who received the drug have recovered.
