Ten out of the forty-four prisoners of war, who had returned to Armenia, have various injuries and need treatment, NEWS.am Medicine reports referring to Dr Mikael Samsonyan, the surgery department head of the Yerevan Garrison Hospital.

He was an escorting Army doctor on the Russian plane on which prisoners from Azerbaijan were transported to Armenia.

According to the doctor, he examined the prisoners of war right on the spot, at the first meeting with them, to assess their condition and figure out which of them might need help.

There was no need for emergency care, but 10 in need of treatment upon returning home. The doctor found minor wounds in several of them.

The soldiers said all these wounds were received during the hostilities, the doctor noted. Whether it was real or not, is hard to say; it cannot be ruled out the soldiers said so only because they were still on Azerbaijani territory during the inspection and conversation, the specialist added.

No life-threatening injuries were found. 14 civilians who returned from captivity were placed in civilian hospitals under the Ministry of Health, where they are examined and will be treated, if necessary. The details about their condition are still unknown. Most of the prisoners of war who returned to the homeland need psychological or psychotherapeutic assistance, Mikael Samsonyan noted.
