Hazardous chemicals found in every 4th children's toy

March 5, 2021  23:17

Hazardous chemicals can be found in 25% of children's toys, researchers from Denmark working for the UN noted.

UNEP conducted a study that found that a quarter of all children's toys contain chemicals harmful to babies, such as plasticizers, surfactants to create foam, colorants, stabilizers, and fragrances. All of these substances are usually added to plastic products to create a certain level of flexibility or stiffness.

Many of these chemicals can harm children's health, sdg.iisd.org reported. And this is especially dangerous, since in the first years of life, the child's body is still weak and easily exposed to negative influences from external sources. Subsequently, this has a bad effect on a person's health until the end of his life.
