Some daily activities that increase the risk of contracting coronavirus, according to scientists from the British Institute of Health Informatics.
They compared data from the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic from October 2020 to April 2021 with the period from September to November last year, when no restrictions were imposed.
As it turned out, shopping once a week during the second wave of coronavirus increased the risk of infection by one and a half times. In second place were outdoor sports: they increase the risk of infection by 1.36 times. Such statistics, according to experts, may be associated with social activity, and not with physical activity itself.
In terms of the likelihood of contracting coronavirus, trips to bars, restaurants, and travel by public transport are also dangerous (increase the risk of infection by 1.3 times). The least risky activities, scientists considered a visit to a hairdresser, beauty salon or manicure room.
Interestingly, the researchers did not find convincing evidence of an increased risk of infection when visiting cinemas, concerts, sports events. However, experts did not consider the situation after the emergence of the omicron strain.
