What disease could loss of weight and appetite be indicative of?

Weakness, loss of weight and appetite, and an aversion to meat may indicate gastric cancer, according to Andrei Pylev, an oncologist and member of the European Society of Clinical Oncologists ESMO.

"First, it is a syndrome of small signs, which cannot be called specific to stomach cancer, as it is characteristic of many tumors localized in the abdominal cavity. These are weakness, weight loss, pain. If we're talking about stomach cancer, quite often it starts with disgust for meat in addition to loss of appetite," the specialist told Ura.ru.

According to him, nausea and vomiting may also be symptoms of this disease, especially if the tumor is localized in the cardioesophageal region - the place where the esophagus passes into the stomach.

Symptoms may appear immediately after a meal, or several hours later.

Also, the specialist recommends paying attention to the color of the vomit: if it is dark in color, this may mean that the tumor is bleeding in the stomach.

Pylev recommends urgently going to the doctor in case any of the above symptoms appear.
