Russian doctors removed a child's gills

Doctors of Vidnovsky clinical hospital operated on a minor patient with a rare pathology - a four-year-old boy had a gill on his neck. This was reported in the press service of the medical institution.
According to doctors, such congenital pathology is eliminated only by surgery. After the necessary examinations, the patient underwent surgery - it lasted several hours and was successful.
"When opening the formation, an arc-shaped bone structure was found. This is a very rare anomaly - a rudiment of the gill arch," said Victoria Zhironkina, head of paediatric surgery at the hospital.
The child feels well after the intervention and has already been discharged home.
