Nutritionist Rob Hobson said that despite its many health benefits and high protein content, cottage cheese may have one drawback — a relatively high salt content. The specialist spoke about this in an interview with The Independent.
According to him, due to the specifics of the production process, cottage cheese may contain more sodium than products such as yogurt, since salt is added during its preparation.
The expert noted that one standard serving of cottage cheese contains approximately 300–400 milligrams of sodium. This amount is considered safe for healthy people, but it may be undesirable for those who need to limit their salt intake, particularly individuals with high blood pressure.
At the same time, Hobson stressed that people with hypertension do not necessarily need to completely give up cottage cheese, but they should take its salt content into account when planning their diet.
