Higher clash drug users recorded in England and Wales

September 20, 2019  22:40

In England and Wales, the number of people who use Class A drugs, such as cocaine and ecstasy, has been at an all-time high, Independent reported.

Around 1.3 million, or 3.7%, of people aged between 16 and 59 used a class A drug in the last year, according to the latest official drug misuse statistics from the Crime Survey for England and Wales.

That's not a big increase since 2017/18, when it was 3.5%, and is only slightly higher than the previous record of 3.6% in 2008.

But the report says there has been a "genuine rise in Class A drug use" among 16 to 24-year-olds,” the source noted.
