Daily Mail: eating nuts and seeds can reduce risk of cancer and heart disease

According to British nutritionist Tim Spector and biochemist Max Gowland, you should eat a small handful of nuts and seeds a day, dividing them into portions. This eating habit can reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease. This is reported by the Daily Mail.

Experts explained that the main advantage of eating nuts and seeds is the beneficial effect of fibre (non-digestible vegetable fibre) in their composition. This nutritional component helps to improve overall health, as well as digestion, circulation, blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

Also nuts and seeds are rich in healthy fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals that prevent the development of cardiovascular diseases. Nuts prevent the accumulation of "harmful" cholesterol in the blood, which helps to preserve the elasticity of blood vessel walls. Normal vascular function reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Experts also noted that various studies have increasingly found a link between nut consumption and a reduced likelihood of developing cancer.

According to experts, the maximum benefit of seeds and nuts can be obtained if you consume them daily in small portions (one handful a day will be enough). At the same time, nuts should not be substituted for other plant foods such as cereals, fruits, vegetables and herbs. A healthier choice is to avoid biscuits, crisps and fizzy drinks.
