Woman, 61, becomes mother after divorce

November 2, 2019  11:09

Ana Maria Pontelo Moreira, 61, gave birth to her firstborn via in vitro fertilization (IVF), Mirror reported

A baby was born using cesarean section and at birth weighed 3.4 kilograms. Mother called the baby Ian.

“I hope my story is an inspiration for other people, it’s very rewarding. I know that there are older women who want to be mothers but they are scared. I fulfilled my dream,” she said.

In 2014, Moreira broke up with her husband. Before the divorce, she stood in line for the adoption of the child, and after the divorce, she used IVF.

"At 40 years old it isn’t possible to use your ovaries anymore, so I asked for a younger person, compatible with my blood type. For the fertilisation to go well several exams were carried out,” she added.
