The police opened a criminal case on the incident at the Malayan Center, where 6 out of 10 patients who were given intraocular injections on May 8 had serious vision problems.

The Investigation Committee took the case into production and are now conducting a series of examinations and studies, the results of which will be known later.

The criminal case was initiated over the release or sale of goods, the performance of work or the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements.

Six out of ten patients who received intraocular injections in S. Malayan Ophthalmological Center had serious vision problems and required surgical treatment. Another two patients also had problems, but they did not need a surgery.
Firstly, it was claimed that, according to preliminary tests, the medicine was infected with E. coli. Later it was revealed that a bacteriological examination of a drug would take time, and it is impossible to make it in a few hours.
It is also known that the patients were injected with Avastin produced by Swiss company Roche, which, however, is not intended for use in ophthalmology. According to some experts, it is possible that the use of the medicine for other purposes could cause the infection. Moreover, a similar situation was recorded in the past in other countries.
