India father refused to donate kidney to dying daughter because she is a girl

A story of 16-year-old India girl who needs immediate kidney transplant was a shock to many as her father refused to be a donor.
Kanchan Kumari is is eldest of her five siblings, and her father refused to be a donor due to several reasons. First of all the doctors said there is no guarantee for survival, and secondly, the relatives said if her father gives his kidney to her then he would not be able to work and family's survival would be at stake.
“Who will donate their kidneys? She is a girl,” her father Ramashray Yadav replied on being asked by a local newsman, New Zealand Herald writes quoting the Times of India.
One of the Indian hospitals promised to help with searching a donor.
