Scientists from the University of Michigan have established at what age a divorce is most dangerous for the psyche. The results of the study indicate that at a young age people are more likely to experience divorce.
Specialists analyzed the health data of 1282 people. It turned out that there were more health problems among those who divorced from the age of 35 to 41 than among those who said goodbye to family life at 44-50.
Researchers attribute this to the fact that in adulthood a person copes with stress better, which makes it easier to survive a nervous shock that is inevitable during a divorce. Another explanation: during divorce, adult spouses accumulate a very tangible ‘baggage’ of mutual reproaches, because of the divorce it is perceived more like a ticket to a new life.
