Scientists talk about terrible consequences of insomnia

People with insomnia have an increased risk of developing heart disease, American Heart Association Circulation reported referring to scientists from the Carolina Institute in Stockholm.

The study involved 1.3 million people, among whom were both healthy people and those with problems with the cardiovascular system.

Using the Mendelian randomization method, taking into account the genetic factors of insomnia, it was found that a genetic predisposition to insomnia increases the risk of stroke, coronary heart disease and heart failure.

It is important to determine the root cause of insomnia for its further treatment, said study author Professor Susanne Larsson adding that sleep patterns can be changed with new habits and stress management.
