Girls born in December have strong heart, study claims

Girls born in December have a healthier heart. And girls born in spring or summer are 12% more likely to die from coronary artery disease, British Medical Journal reported referring to a study.

April was the most risky month in terms of the risk of developing heart diseases, but December is considered the most preferable. Unfortunately, researchers cannot explain what this is connected with and why girls born in winter have a healthier heart.

Previous studies have shown that what a person eats, what air he breathes, how much sunlight he receives in the first months of life and during pregnancy depends on the month of birth.

Scientists from Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston used information about a little more than 116,000 women aged 30 to 55. Observation of them began in 1976 and lasted 38 years.

During the observation period, 43,000 women died, of which 8,360 died due to heart disease. Moreover, in those born in the spring, the probability of death from these diseases was 10% higher, and in the summer - by 9%. At birth in April, the risk increased by 12%, compared with those who were born in November. But women born in December were 5% less likely to die ahead of time, compared to even those born in November.
