Chinese coronavirus trying to treat with anti-HIV drugs

January 27, 2020  22:10

Specialists in China are testing antiretroviral drugs to treat HIV infection in the fight against 2019-nCoV coronavirus and pneumonia.

According to Bloomberg, experts believe the combination of lopinavir and ritonavir can be effective against coronavirus, which has already killed 81 people and infected about 3,000 people. They remind that there are no effective antiviral drugs against 2019-nCoV, so patients are given a combination of lopinavir and ritonavir drugs twice a day, as well as a dose of alda-interferon via an inhaler.

As the medical journal Lancet noted, a clinical trial of the effectiveness of lopinavir and ritonavir against coronavirus is also being conducted. Also, experts from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention are working on a vaccine against this virus.
