Almost quarter of COVID-19 patients experience hair loss within 6 months of infection

Fatigue, loss of smell, and chest pain can be long-term consequences of coronavirus infection. Nearly a quarter of COVID-19 patients may also experience hair loss, according to a new research article published by The Lancet.
According to The Daily Mail, 359 of the 1,655 patients (22%) hospitalized in Wuhan, China, experienced hair loss 6 months after discharge.
Dermatologists noted that hair loss is a normal physiological response to a stressful event such as an infectious disease. The problem is usually temporary, they said, but COVID-19 can be associated with conditions such as alopecia, which can lead to permanent hair loss.
