COVID-19 may lead to Guillain-Barré syndrome

June 7, 2021  13:20

COVID-19 can lead to the development of Guillain-Barré syndrome, said scientists from the University of Birmingham.

According to EurekAlert!, the antibodies produced in the body of a person who has had a coronavirus infection are similar to antibodies that cause heart and skin diseases.

The first symptoms of the disease are muscle weakness and pain, numbness in the hands and feet, and problems with coordination.

Guillain-Barré syndrome is an autoimmune polyradiculoneuropathy that manifests itself as autonomic and sensory disorders.
