What disease might mood swings indicate?

March 21, 2022  22:37

Mood swings, palpitations, hand tremors, sweating, and weight loss may indicate hyperthyroidism (thyrotoxicosis) - the production of excess thyroid hormones by the thyroid gland, endocrinologist Maria Sviridova says.

It is typical for thyrotoxicosis if a person at any age suddenly begins to lose weight, feels that he is always hot, sweats, although before was not sweaty; heart beats so that, patients say, jumps out of the chest, hands begin to shake, and most importantly, behavior changes, the specialist told Moscow Talk.

People become indignant, start crying endlessly, fight with relatives, the specialist said.

According to her, in most cases thyrotoxicosis is caused by diffuse toxic goiter, an autoimmune disease that requires immediate treatment.
