Scientists from Tulane University have discovered a new way to reduce the risk of developing diabetes.
At a conference of the American Heart Association, they reported that drinking a small amount of wine at lunch can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
The experts analyzed data from 312,000 people from a U.K. biobank who consumed alcohol. The 8,600 subjects developed type 2 diabetes over 11 years.
Analysis of the available data showed that drinking small doses of alcohol (about a glass of wine) can have a beneficial effect on the body and also reduce the risk of diabetes by 14%. However, drinking beer or liquor, on the contrary, increases the chances of getting diabetes.
