The doctor advises giving up alcohol, smoking and rigid diets to have healthy skin.

In a piece for Times Of India, reproductive health specialist Sadhana Kala of Uppsala University, Sweden, talked about habits that contribute to glowing skin.

Kala noted that healthy skin is not necessarily perfect. "It can have stretch marks after childbirth, noticeable pores, blemishes, wrinkles. But healthy skin is not red, not inflamed, not too oily or dry, smooth with minor rashes. It's firm and glowing," she explained.

Skin health is influenced not only by genetics and health conditions, but also by habits. The doctor recommended giving up smoking and cutting down on alcohol. "Alcohol causes facial redness, dermatitis, rosacea, skin infections and psoriasis," she warned.

In addition, for healthy and firm skin, you need to sleep at least eight hours a night and exercise regularly. "Devote up to 150 minutes each week to moderate aerobic activity, such as brisk walking," Kala said.

Stress reduction through meditation, yoga, social activities, avoiding ultraviolet rays and avoiding rigid diets also contribute to healthy skin. "Repetitive weight loss and gain leads to sagging skin, wrinkles and stretch marks on the skin. Also, extreme diets lead to deficiencies in important vitamins and minerals, which harms the skin," the surgeon warned.

Finally, Kala suggested eliminating foods with a high glycemic index (biscuits, cakes, sugary drinks), spicy foods, chips, too salty dishes and dishes with too much seasoning.
