Rhinovirus, bocavirus, coronavirus pathogens circulating in Armenia

October 25, 2024  14:50

The season of flu and acute respiratory infections has started in Armenia since the first week of October.

The National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of Armenia conducts monitoring to track the trends in the development of these illnesses in the country.

Accordingly, the situation caused by acute respiratory infections is normal in Armenia and consistent with the current season.

In the third week of October, the cases of acute respiratory infections have increased in the country compared to the previous week, but are lower compared to the same period last year.

At present, relatively high such cases are recorded in Armenia among children under 4 years of age, which make up 71 percent of all such cases in the country.

As of now, influenza pathogens are not circulating in Armenia.

But some other respiratory pathogens—of rhinovirus, bocavirus, and coronavirus (SARS-Cov-2)—are circulating in the country.
