Most promising supplements for life extension revealed

August 28, 2025  10:22

Among the many supplements available on the market, experts single out those whose effectiveness and safety have been confirmed by clinical studies. They are magnesium, creatine, omega-3, NMN, and vitamin D, Olga Tkacheva, Director of the Russian Clinical and Research Center of Gerontology at the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, told RIA Novosti.

Magnesium is actively studied in the context of metabolism, sleep quality, and lowering blood pressure. With age, it becomes especially important for maintaining the body's resistance to stress and physical exertion.

Creatine is well known in sports medicine, but has also attracted the attention of geriatricians as a possible means of preserving muscle mass and energy in the elderly.

Omega-3 fatty acids are being studied for their effect on the cardiovascular system, inflammatory markers, and cognitive function.

NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) is interesting in that it works “inside” the cell, assisting mitochondria, improving tissue repair, and may actually slow some signs of aging.

Vitamin D continues to be actively studied in the context of immune function, bone strength, and muscle health in older adults.
