In 2013 in Armenia 41,906 children were born

In 2013, 41,906 children were born in Armenia, which is 926 less than in 2012, the Ministry of Health of Armenia told NEWS.am Medicine.

The birth rate in Armenia has gradually been going down during the last years: in 2010, 44,737 children were born in the country (2831 more than in 2013), in 2011, the number dropped down to 43,297, and in 2012 it was only 42,832.

In 2013, 21,380 children were born in Yerevan, while the number of children born in all other regions of the country was only 20,526. For comparison, in 2012 21,998 children were born in the capital, which is 618 more than in 2013. In all other regions 20,834 children were born in 2012, which is 308 more than in 2013.

Most children in 2013 were born in the Shirak region – 3696, while Vayots Dzor had the smallest number of births – 531. As for the other regions, 1087 children were born in Aragatsotn, 1430 in Syunik, 2530 in Ararat, 2471 in Kotayk, 1987 in Armavir, 2591 in Gegarkunik, 2834 in Lori, and 1300 in Tavush.
