How long can Omicron strain survive on different surfaces?

Specialists at the State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology evaluated the survivability of the coronavirus omicron strain on different surfaces. As it turned out, the virus is most quickly deactivated on a ceramic surface.

According to RIA Novosti, the experts conducted experiments to determine the viability of the virus on metal, plastic, ceramic tiles and distilled water under the same conditions (relative humidity of 30-40% and temperature 26-28 degrees).

As it turned out, the ability of the virus to infect decreases over time when exposed to different surfaces. The fastest way to deactivate the virus is on ceramics: a viable virus is no longer detectable after less than 24 hours. On other surfaces, the virus lives even longer.

The authors of the study also added that the use of disinfectants remains an effective way.
