Woman Loses Sight in Both Eyes After Hemorrhoid Treatment
A woman from Stavropol, Russia, lost her vision following treatment for hemorrhoids—she is now legally blind and has founded a support community for 5,000 people with similar diagnoses, reports Telegram channel Mash.
Gabriella initially sought medical help due to severe bleeding. Doctors failed to provide an accurate diagnosis and prescribed incorrect treatment. Her condition rapidly deteriorated: one of her eyes became swollen, she experienced nausea, weakness, and dizziness.
The following day, an ophthalmologist was called in. He applied eye drops to dilate her pupils—though it was unnecessary. The examination revealed no issues.
Gabriella was then referred to a neurologist and a cardiologist. Due to a sudden spike in blood pressure—previously, it had been low—doctors suspected a stroke. At a local medical outpost, healthcare workers were unable to explain her worsening condition.
Ultimately, Gabriella lost her vision completely. She is now continuing treatment and supporting others with similar conditions. According to Mash, investigators have opened a criminal case over unsafe medical services.
