Botulism case recorded in Armenia, 2 people hospitalized

A case of botulism has been recorded in Armenia’s Aragatsotn province.

Two people have been injured as a result of the poisoning after eating canned cucumbers made at home.

Patients have been hospitalized.

The Ministry of Health warns:

Avoid home-made canned food;

Heat the canned food for 20-25 minutes before using it;

Do not bye home-made preserves from the market or casual people;

Contact your doctor immediately as soon as the first symptoms appear;

Botulism is a severe food poisoning caused by Clostridium botulinum. Symptoms of the disease appear within 2-3 hours to 10 days. These include: general weakness, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, abdominal cramps, shortness of breath, vision impairment (fog, mesh), bifurcation, change of voice (murmur, nasopharynx), dry mouth, tingling.
