It is not possible to store donor organs for a long time today - pretty soon they already become unsuitable for transplantation. However, Russian scientists have found a way to increase the time of organ preservation by 4 times, TASS reported.
Scientists propose to use not liquid, as is now done, but a special preservative gas to conserve organs.
The point is to reversibly stop the metabolic processes in the tissue. For this, a solution of a special composition is first used, then the organ is placed in a sealed chamber, where a multicomponent gas mixture is pumped under pressure.
Coling is carried out to plus 2-4 degrees Celsius in parallel. So the organ is stored until transplantation.
