Armenia’s acting Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan and acting Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Speaking to reporters, Avinyan said that they had specially chosen AstraZeneca, as false rumors are mostly spread about this vaccine. According to the acting deputy PM, out of 200 million who have been injected the AstraZeneca vaccine, only a few dozen have had side effects. However, if those 200 million people had been infected with COVId-19, there would have been about 4 million deaths—about 2% of those infected die—, and these, according to Avinyan, are incomparable numbers.

And as Avanesyan stated, in her turn, they showed by their own example that these inoculations are an important preventive measure that should help overcome the pandemic and return to normal life.

These vaccines today, according to the speakers, are available in all polyclinics in Armenia, and everyone over the age of 18 can be vaccinated.

According to Tigran Avinyan, these immunizations will positively affect relations between countries, tourism, and the economic situation. "Our policy should be to persuade, encourage as many people as possible to participate in the process of vaccination against COVID-19," he concluded.
