Two pregnant women infected with COVID-19 have been transferred to a hospital in extremely critical condition. This is what acting Minister of Health of Armenia Anahit Avanesyan told reporters today.

“In our opinion, if those women’s relatives who aren’t in the risk group had gotten vaccinated, the women wouldn’t be in an extremely critical condition,” the acting minister said.

According to her, there needs to be vaccination for as many citizens as possible so that there can be public immunity. The minister added that a decision has been taken to expand the scope of citizens receiving the coronavirus vaccine and lift the age restrictions. Currently, every citizen over the age of 18 can get vaccinated.

According to Avanesyan, the gravity of the disease increases with every wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the number of difficult cases grows, various strains emerge, and it is necessary to prevent the spread of the disease as soon as possible.
