Is coronavirus vaccination safe for pregnant women?

March 25, 2022  14:34

Coronavirus vaccination is not associated with a higher risk of complications for pregnant women, researchers at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health have found.

Nearly 160,000 pregnant women who gave birth between January 2021 and January 2022 participated in the study, MedicalXpress reports.

Most of the women included in the study were vaccinated after the 12th week according to current guidelines, with 95% receiving the mRNA vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna).

Specialists found no increased risk of preterm birth, growth retardation, or need for neonatal care after coronavirus vaccination during pregnancy in these women.
