What signs could indicate colorectal cancer?

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in the United States, but the survival rate is 91 percent if the cancer is diagnosed at a localized stage. Experts told Eat This, Not That! about signs that indicate the possibility of colorectal cancer.

Rectal bleeding can be a sign of colon cancer and should never be taken lightly, doctors warn. In this case, a colonoscopy should be performed.

Other common symptoms of colon cancer include tight stools, gas pains, bloating, cramping, weight loss and fatigue.

Nausea and vomiting can also be a sign of colon cancer, experts warn. Nausea and vomiting can occur if a tumor of the colon or rectum blocks the intestine and prevents the passage of liquid or solid waste or gas, experts say.

A family history of colon cancer can be a risk factor, so if there is a family history of such cases, get regular checkups.
