How healthy is plant based milk?

Plant milk can be a good substitute for the classic in terms of calcium content. In drinks made from nuts (except almonds), seeds, legumes and cereals, this useful element is almost the same as in an animal product. At the same time, it is well absorbed, nutritionist, allergist-immunologist Antonina Savolyuk told Moscow 24.

However, this cannot be said about iron. Although it is present in vegetable milk, it is absorbed worse - less than 10%.

The calorie content of vegetable milk is comparable to cow's. On average, it contains about 50–60 kilocalories per 100 grams with a fat content of 2.5%.

Vegetable milk should contain B vitamins and omega-3, 6 and 9 polyunsaturated fatty acids. After all, they are rich in cereals, nuts and legumes, from which the product is made. But here it is important to understand that if the technology is not followed, these valuable substances are destroyed.

Natural plant milk is a liquid obtained by washing crushed nuts, cereal seeds and legumes.

Such additives increase the calorie content of the drink. This point can be especially dangerous for people who are not used to reading the composition and drink vegetable milk, believing that this is an extremely useful dietary product.

Vegetable milk bears little resemblance to classical milk in composition and taste, but remotely resembles it in appearance and consistency. This fact makes it possible to diversify the diet for those people who cannot consume a regular animal product.
