Consumption of fruit yoghurts for breakfast can promote weight gain and increase the risk of diabetes, nutritionist Ekaterina Matyskina told RIA Novosti.
According to the expert, many people eat yoghurt for breakfast in the hope that it will benefit their health, but the effect can be quite different.
The nutritionist explained that such products contain fruit or cereals, which means they also contain sugar. After a fruit yogurt for breakfast, a person will start snacking even before lunchtime, and this can contribute to gaining extra weight.
The nutritionist added that sharp rises and falls in blood sugar levels can lead to such a phenomenon as "insulin swings," and such fluctuations in the body, in turn, create the risk of developing diabetes.
