After a few months, the human psyche begins to suffer, and the risk of depression also increases. If insomnia continues for more than five years, then coronary heart disease can develop, and the risk of heart attacks and strokes increases.

In some cases, insomnia can also lead to diabetes mellitus, accompanied by accelerated aging,” said the somnologist.

The doctor also drew attention to the most effective ways to deal with this disease at home.

“The most important thing in this situation is to try to normalize the daily routine, that is, try to go to bed and get up at the same time. Including it is worth refusing to oversleep on weekends. Avoiding caffeinated drinks and avoiding overeating can also help.

Be sure to do physical activity, five to six times a week, at least 30-40 minutes a day. All of the above is great for people who are just starting to experience sleep problems.

You can also take over-the-counter sedatives, but I want to note that they need to be drunk in a course, and not used as a one-time remedy,” the specialist concluded.
