New health benefits of coffee with milk found

Coffee with milk has an anti-inflammatory effect on the body, according to an article by scientists from the University of Copenhagen in The Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.

Whenever bacteria, viruses or other foreign substances enter the body, the immune system reacts by using white blood cells and various chemicals to protect itself, causing inflammation. In addition, inflammation can be caused by oxidative stress - cellular damage due to oxidation by oxygen. Polyphenols are known to be good for humans because they help reduce oxidative stress.

When a polyphenol reacts with an amino acid, its inhibitory effect on inflammation in immune cells increases. We did an experiment with immune cells treated with a combination of polyphenols and amino acids. As it turned out, they were twice as effective in fighting inflammation as cells to which only polyphenols were added, the researchers noted.

Coffee beans are high in polyphenols, and milk is rich in proteins. Therefore, the scientists concluded that drinks containing these components have a beneficial effect on the immune system.
