What kind of nutrition prolongs life?

Chinese scientists have figured out what kind of nutrition can prolong life. According to RIA Novosti, for longevity, it is necessary to eat more vegetables and fruits.

The study authors looked at data from 26 health studies of dietary habits, which involved about 1.9 million people from 29 countries and regions in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. As it turned out, people who ate about 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily had the longest life expectancy.

However, not all fruits and vegetables are healthy - and not all contribute to longevity in the same way. A meta-analysis showed that consumption of starchy vegetables did not reduce the risk of premature death. And the most beneficial were green leafy foods, as well as fruits and vegetables rich in beta-carotene and vitamin C, in particular, citrus fruits, berries, and carrots.
