Does regular milk consumption raise cholesterol levels?

May 26, 2021  15:29

Regular consumption of dairy products does not raise cholesterol levels. Moreover, it even reduces the risk of developing certain diseases.

According to Medportal.ru, experts analyzed three large population studies, applied a genetic approach to milk consumption, studying the change in the lactase gene associated with the digestion of milk sugar.

In total, scientists analyzed data on the health and dietary habits of more than 1.9 million people in the UK. The results showed that people with genetic variation in lactase were 11% less likely to develop type 2 diabetes on average. Overall, scientists have not found any evidence that regular milk consumption may be associated with an increased risk of this disease.
